Het korte antwoord

The machine learning in Google Cloud Platform test is an intermediate hiring assessment for machine learning engineers, MLOps engineers, data scientists who take models to production, and cloud architects planning ML workloads on Google Cloud. Its multiple-choice scenarios measure practical judgment in preparing data, training and tuning models, serving predictions, and monitoring workloads.

Wat het meet

Practical judgment in building, serving and running machine learning workloads on Google Cloud.

Cloud resources and data for ML

Assesses choices for storing and preparing data and using cloud resources for machine learning workloads.

Training, evaluating and tuning models

Covers decisions involved in training, evaluating and tuning a model for a project.

Serving models and online prediction

Covers putting a model into production and handling online prediction.

Pipelines, monitoring and model oversight

Covers pipelines, monitoring and oversight to keep machine learning workloads healthy over time.

Question formats

Multiple choice

The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.

You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.

15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.

Roles this test fits

Machine learning engineers, MLOps engineers, data scientists who take their own models to production, and cloud architects who plan ML workloads on Google Cloud.

What this assessment can show

  1. Data decisions in context

Realistic project situations reveal how a candidate approaches storing and preparing data, including examples such as demand forecasts, sensor readings and support tickets.

  2. Concepts over click paths

The questions focus on lasting concepts and design choices rather than prices, quotas, console click paths or recently renamed features.

  3. Applied technical reasoning

Some situations include a few short lines of Python or SQL, so candidates choose an approach in context rather than respond only to abstract prompts.

Test integrity signals for review

Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools, in a different order, with answer options shuffled. The browser presents one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server; reloading brings back the same question with only the time left. Candidates cannot return to earlier questions. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline summarize those signals for the employer to review; they do not decide on their own. With the candidate’s consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as one source of evidence

Review the result alongside a job-relevant work sample and a structured interview, not as a stand-alone decision. A work sample could ask the candidate to explain choices for preparing data, training a model and monitoring it after deployment. Vragen voor gestructureerde sollicitatiegesprekken

  1. A demand-forecasting project has new data. How would you decide what to prepare before training a model?

Listen for a clear approach to storing and preparing data, with decisions connected to the project situation.

  2. A model performs poorly when evaluated. How would you investigate what to change next?

Listen for reasoned steps around training, evaluation and tuning, rather than a list of terms.

  3. A model is serving online predictions. What would you monitor over time, and how would you respond to a concern?

Listen for practical thinking about serving, monitoring and model oversight.

Fairness and accommodations

Questions use generic business data such as demand forecasts, sensor readings and support tickets, in plain technical English with no idioms or local knowledge. They test lasting concepts and design choices rather than prices, quotas, console click paths or recently renamed features, so recent product changes do not decide a score. Code is kept to a few short lines, and every candidate has the same time per question.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.

Test details

A short, timed check of applied machine learning on Google Cloud. Candidates work through realistic project situations, some with a few lines of Python or SQL, and choose how to store and prepare data, train and tune a model, put it into production and keep it healthy over time.

  • Questions are in English.
  • No aids are needed.
  • Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
  • 4 practice questions, 4 minutes, before the timed test.

Veelgestelde vragen

How does the Google Cloud Platform machine learning test handle fairness?+

It uses generic business data, including demand forecasts, sensor readings and support tickets, in plain technical English without idioms or local knowledge. Questions focus on lasting concepts and design choices, not prices, quotas, console click paths or recently renamed features. Code stays to a few short lines, and every candidate has the same time per question.

Are aids allowed in the Machine Learning in Google Cloud Platform test?+

No aids are allowed, and candidates cannot go back to an earlier question. Code appears as a few short lines of Python or SQL that candidates read in the context of a project situation, so nothing depends on their own tools or Google Cloud project.

What is in the Google Cloud machine learning practice set?+

The practice set has four questions and takes four minutes, before the 15 timed questions in 10 minutes. It lets candidates get used to the single-answer and select-all formats, and to reading a short project situation, before the scored questions start.

Who should take the intermediate Google Cloud machine learning hiring test?+

It is intended for machine learning engineers, MLOps engineers, data scientists who take their own models to production, and cloud architects who plan ML workloads on Google Cloud. The intermediate level suits people who already take models from data to production, not those new to machine learning.
