Het korte antwoord
The GHS Safety test is a 10-minute, 15-question multiple-choice assessment for intermediate roles that handle hazardous chemicals. It suits production, plant, warehouse, laboratory, maintenance, cleaning, and facilities teams.

Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.

What this test can show
Apply label information
See whether candidates can use GHS label and safety data sheet details to identify hazards and choose safe handling actions.
See the next step after a spill
Scenes show a spill or an exposure and ask what to do first, so you see how a candidate would act when something goes wrong with a chemical.
Use shared reference information
Each question includes the label, data sheet excerpt, or site rule it relies on, and uses plain wording with pictograms described by symbol.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test integrity signals
Each candidate receives a different question set, order, and arrangement of answer options. The browser shows one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. The 10-minute timer runs on the server; reloading returns the same question with only the remaining time. Candidates cannot copy or select question text, and blocked copy attempts are recorded. Each personal invitation link expires, and a finished test cannot be taken again. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers given faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline are provided for the employer to review; the system does not decide on its own. See how we build our tests.

Use the score as evidence
Review the result alongside a job-related work sample and a structured interview. For example, ask candidates to interpret a provided label or data sheet excerpt, then explain their choices. Treat the score as evidence for a person to review, not as a decision by itself. The pre-employment testing guide offers more context on using hiring tests.

Fairness and accommodations
Every question gives the label, data sheet excerpt or site rule it relies on, so answers rest on the GHS elements shared across countries rather than any one country's law. Pictograms are described by their symbol, never by color alone, and the wording is kept plain for readers whose first language is not English. Names and workplaces vary, and no question involves money, idioms or local knowledge. The test checks knowledge and does not replace a site's own chemical safety training.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
Test details
A short, timed check of how well a candidate reads GHS hazard labels and safety data sheets and turns what they say into safe action on the job. - Questions are in English.
- No aids are needed.
- Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
- 4 practice questions, 3 minutes, before the timed test.
