Question formats

Multiple choice

The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.

You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.

15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.

Roles this test fits

Purchase executives, procurement executives, buyers and import coordinators who place and follow up orders with overseas suppliers.

What this test can show

  1. Check decisions against order details

Brief workplace scenarios and small tables of orders let you review how candidates plan buying around long lead times, not just how they describe purchasing on a resume.

  2. Review shipment follow-up judgment

Questions about delivery follow-up provide evidence of how candidates respond to shipment details when checking whether goods will arrive complete and on time.

  3. See commercial comparisons in context

Questions may include quotes, currencies, exchange rates, trade terms, or payment terms, so you can review how candidates compare overseas supplier pricing with the information provided.

  4. Use a consistent, supported setup

Scenarios use invented companies, generic products, and neutral currency labels. A calculator and scratch paper are allowed for every candidate.

How the assessment is administered

Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools. The 15 multiple-choice questions appear one at a time, with question order and answer options shuffled for each attempt. The 10-minute timer runs on the server; reloading returns the same question with only the remaining time, and candidates cannot go back. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline are provided for employer review; they do not decide on their own. With candidate consent, random webcam photos can be added.

Use the score as evidence

Treat the score as one input for a person to review, not a hiring decision on its own. Pair it with a work sample, such as comparing overseas supplier quotes using the exchange rate and trade terms provided, then discuss the candidate’s reasoning in a structured interview. See our pre-employment testing guide and candidate-friendly hiring guide for more on using assessments in hiring.

Vragen voor gestructureerde sollicitatiegesprekken

  1. How would you plan an order when the supplier’s lead time could affect when goods arrive?

Listen for how the candidate uses the lead time and order details to explain a plan.

  2. A shipment is due, but the information available suggests the order may not arrive complete. What would you do next?

Listen for a clear follow-up approach focused on confirming shipment status and completeness.

  3. How would you compare two overseas supplier quotes when the currencies and trade terms differ?

Listen for the candidate to use the exchange rate and terms provided, and explain how they reached a comparison.

Fairness and accommodations

Scenarios use invented companies, generic product lines and neutral currency labels (Currency A, Currency B) with any exchange rate stated, so no question depends on one country's customs rules, tariffs, holidays or seasons. Any duty rate, payment term or lead time a question needs is given in the question, apart from the widely used international trade terms the role works with every day. Names come from many backgrounds, units are metric, dates are written with the month as a word, and a calculator and scratch paper are allowed for every candidate.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
