Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
UX researchers, UX and product designers, user interface designers, product managers, customer experience analysts and usability analysts who plan studies or act on their results.
What this test can show
Judgment about study plans
Scenarios ask candidates to consider a research plan and decide what to do next, giving you evidence of how they approach method choices.
Grounded interpretation
Small tables of findings and session notes let you review whether a candidate draws a sound insight without claiming more than the evidence supports.
Attention to participants
Questions about participants and their data give you a signal about how candidates handle research responsibilities and user advocacy.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
How the test handles answer integrity
Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large pools, in a different order, with shuffled answer options. The browser shows one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server. Reloading returns the same question with only the time left; candidates cannot go back. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline are provided for the employer to review; the system does not decide on its own. With candidate consent, webcam photos can be added at random moments. Use the score as one piece of evidence
Review the score alongside a work sample and a structured interview. For the work sample, share a short study plan and a table of findings, then ask the questions below about them, rather than treating the score as a verdict. For guidance, see our pre-employment testing guide and candidate-friendly hiring guide. You can also explore Human-Computer Interaction Design as a related test.
Vragen voor gestructureerde sollicitatiegesprekken
How would you decide whether the method in this study plan fits its research question?
Listen for a reasoned connection between the plan, the question it aims to answer, and the evidence it could produce.
What would you conclude from these findings, and what would you avoid claiming?
Look for conclusions tied to the table or session notes, with care not to overstate what the evidence shows.
How would you share these results with the product team?
Listen for a clear account of the finding, its limits, and why it matters to the team.

Fairness and accommodations
Scenarios use generic, made-up products and services rather than named tools or brands, so no candidate is favored by knowing a particular platform. Participants and colleagues have names from many backgrounds, ages and abilities, and no scenario relies on idiom, sports, holidays or local customs. Numbers in tables are small and round, so scratch paper is enough, and the reading level is kept plain so the test measures research judgment rather than reading speed.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.

It also covers how to treat participants and their data with care.
- Questions are in English.
- Aids allowed: Scratch paper.
- Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
- 4 practice questions, 3 minutes, before the timed test.
