Brand managers, brand strategists, brand marketing managers, heads of brand and directors of brand marketing, and marketing roles where decisions about the brand are part of the job.
A closer look at brand judgment
See decisions, not just credentials
The scenarios show how a candidate approaches positioning, identity and brand portfolios, details a resume may not reveal.
Beyond a single brand
Questions on brand extensions, portfolios and brand health show whether a candidate can run a family of brands, not only look after one.
Review applied reasoning
Short briefs and small tables of research results let you review how candidates interpret information and make brand calls.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test setup and integrity signals
Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools. Questions appear in a different order for each attempt, and answer options are shuffled. The browser shows one question at a time; candidates cannot go back. Timing runs on the server, so reloading returns the same question with only the time left. Question text cannot be copied or selected. HireValid summarizes signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read in an Integrity Score and evidence timeline for the employer to review. It does not decide on its own. With the candidate's consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as evidence
Treat the score as one signal for your review, not a hiring decision by itself. Pair it with a work sample, such as asking the candidate to respond to a short brand brief, and a structured interview. For a broader view of marketing skills, consider the Market Research or Email Marketing test. If the role includes paid campaigns, Google Ads may also be relevant.
Explore brand decisions in an interview
Tell me about a time you had to decide where a brand should stand against a stronger rival. What did you weigh?
Listen for a clear choice grounded in evidence, and how the candidate explains what makes the brand distinct.
How have you kept a brand's voice and look consistent when several teams produced work for it?
Look for a practical method and a reasoned link between the brand's identity and the rules they set.
How would you judge whether a campaign is building the brand over time?
Listen for how they would interpret the evidence and connect campaign decisions to brand health.
Understand scoring and benchmarks
Fairness and accommodations
Every scenario uses an invented company and brand, so no candidate gains from knowing a particular market, country or real brand. Questions avoid money symbols, idioms, sports, holidays and color symbolism that differs between cultures; budgets appear as shares rather than amounts. People in the scenarios have names from many backgrounds, and the reading level suits professional marketers without rewarding knowledge of any one agency's terminology.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
