Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
16 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
People who run or support a brand's online audience: community managers and moderators, social media specialists and leads, and marketing or content staff who look after social channels.
What this test can show
Planning tied to a goal
Scenario questions show how candidates shape social activity around a stated goal and audience, rather than only listing past responsibilities.
Judgment in community conversations
Candidates respond to and moderate a community in realistic work situations, giving you evidence of how they handle audience interactions.
Platform-neutral questions
Platforms are described by what they do, not by brand name, so candidates do not need familiarity with one specific app to answer.
Clear numbers and permitted scratch paper
Metrics are defined in the question and the numbers are simple enough to work out on scratch paper, so you can review decisions about social performance data.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test integrity signals for review
Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools, in a different order, with answer options shuffled. The browser presents one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. This 10-minute test does not allow candidates to go back. Timing runs on the server, so reloading restores the same question with only the time remaining. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read. The employer can review an Integrity Score with an evidence timeline; it does not decide on its own. Webcam photos may be added at random moments with the candidate’s consent.

Use the score as one piece of evidence
Review the score alongside a relevant work sample and a structured interview. Look for alignment between the candidate’s choices on goal-led planning, community moderation, content handling, and simple performance data, and how they explain their approach. Treat the score as evidence for your review, not as a decision by itself. You can compare this test with Social Media Management or Content Strategy, and see a related Marketing Coordinator role.
Structured interview questions
A brand has a stated goal and audience. How would you plan its social activity?
Listen for a clear connection between the stated goal, audience, and the candidate’s proposed actions.
A community member posts a difficult comment. How would you decide whether and how to respond?
Listen for thoughtful judgment about replying and moderating, rather than a rehearsed definition.
How would you handle a content calendar when a planned post needs to change?
Listen for responsible calendar handling and a reasoned approach to adapting social content.
What would you do after reviewing simple performance numbers for social content?
Listen for how the candidate interprets the numbers and connects them to a practical next step.

Fairness and accommodations
Platforms are described by what they do rather than by brand name, so no candidate is favored for knowing one app. Questions avoid slang, memes, money, holidays and local references, and they use names and businesses from many backgrounds and sectors. Any metric a question depends on is defined in the question, and the numbers are simple enough to work out on scratch paper.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
