The short answer
The Jira Software Cloud test is an intermediate, 15-question assessment for Jira administrators, software and tools administrators, technical project managers, Scrum masters, and delivery leads. Scenario-based multiple-choice questions measure working knowledge of projects and boards, workflows and issues, configuration, and automation in Jira Software Cloud.
What it measures
Working knowledge of using and administering Jira Software Cloud: boards, workflows, issues, configuration and automation.
Projects and boards
Questions cover setting up projects and Scrum or Kanban boards for a team's stated needs.
Workflows and issues
Questions ask candidates to shape workflows and find issues with JQL.
Configuration and automation
Questions cover configuring screens, fields, schemes, automation rules, data import and export, and apps.
Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Jira administrators, software and tools administrators, technical project managers, Scrum masters and delivery leads who set up Jira for teams.
What this test can show
Project setup choices
See how candidates reason about configuring projects and Scrum or Kanban boards for the team described in a scenario.
Issue and workflow reasoning
Assess how they approach workflow changes and use JQL to find issues, rather than relying only on a resume's list of Jira experience.
Configuration decisions
Questions about screens, fields, schemes, automation, data transfers, and apps show how candidates assess changes against a team's stated setup.
Consistent scenario context
Each question states its project type and setup, so answers do not depend on recalling menu locations or one company's habits.

Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test integrity signals
Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools, in a different order, with answer options shuffled. The browser shows one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid's servers. The 10-minute timer runs on the server; reloading restores the same question with only the time left. Candidates cannot copy or select question text, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers given faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline are provided for the employer to review; they do not decide on their own. With candidate consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as evidence
Review the score alongside a work sample and a structured interview, not as a hiring decision by itself. For a work sample, ask the candidate to explain how they would set up a project or board for a stated team, then discuss a workflow or JQL choice. The test's reliability is provisional; it will be reported once 200 candidates have completed it. If the role also calls for broader responsibilities, compare with the related Project Management, Scrum Master, or Product Owner test.
Structured interview questions
A new team wants a board that fits how it plans and tracks work. How would you decide what to set up?
Listen for how the candidate connects the team's needs to project and board choices, and explains the tradeoffs.
An issue is not appearing in a team's search results. How would you investigate and decide what to change?
Listen for a reasoned approach to finding issues with JQL and checking the stated setup.
A team needs an issue to move through a different set of steps. How would you shape and check the workflow change?
Listen for a clear explanation of the workflow change and how it fits the team's process.

Fairness and accommodations
Every question states the project type and the setup it asks about, so nothing depends on remembering where a menu sits or on one company's habits. Scenarios use common software and business team work, plain US English without idioms, and names from many backgrounds. Questions are kept short so they can be read on a phone or a computer within the time.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
