Test integrity signals for review

Each candidate gets a different set of questions from large pools. Questions appear in a different order for each attempt, and answer options are shuffled. The browser receives one question at a time; answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server, and reloading restores the same question with only the time left. Candidates cannot copy or select question text, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded. This 11-minute test does not allow back navigation. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline summarize signals for employer review; neither decides on its own. With candidate consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as one piece of evidence

Review the score alongside a short work sample, such as a document, worksheet or presentation task relevant to the role. Then use a structured interview to ask each candidate the same job-related questions. The score is evidence for a person to review, not a hiring decision. For related role context, see Office Administrator and Marketing Coordinator. For a separate spreadsheet assessment, see Microsoft Excel Intermediate.

Vragen voor gestructureerde sollicitatiegesprekken

  1. Tell me about a work task where you used Word to prepare or update a document. What did you need to accomplish, and how did you approach it?

Listen for a clear account of the task and the candidate’s own actions with a document.

  2. Describe a time you used an Excel worksheet to organize information for someone else. How did you decide what to include?

Listen for a relevant example and a thoughtful explanation of how the worksheet supported the task.

  3. How would you handle sharing a file with colleagues who need to work together on it?

Listen for a practical approach to file sharing and collaboration, with attention to the needs in the scenario.

Fairness and accommodations

Questions describe what a feature does and when to use it rather than where a button sits, so they hold for the desktop and web versions alike, and any setting that depends on an organization's choices is stated in the question. Scenarios use everyday office tasks, names from many backgrounds, no money symbols and no local knowledge, and dates are written so they cannot be misread. Tables are short text tables that read well on any screen.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
