Roles that use Dutch at work, from customer support and sales to customer success, editing, writing and content roles where Dutch must be precise.

What this test adds to your hiring process

  1. See evidence beyond a resume

The score offers evidence of grammar, word use, spelling, workplace reading and listening, rather than relying on a candidate's description of their Dutch.

  2. Focus follow-up conversations

Use the CEFR-aligned estimate to guide questions about the Dutch a role needs, from customer support and sales to precise editing or content work.

  3. Screen with a short format

The 12-minute test has 20 multiple-choice questions, so you can collect a focused signal before spending interview time on a candidate's spoken and written work.

Test integrity signals for review

Each candidate gets a different question set, with questions in a different order and shuffled answer options. The browser receives one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. The 12-minute timer runs on the server; reloading restores the same question with only the remaining time. Candidates cannot return to earlier questions. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read. The Integrity Score and evidence timeline are for employer review; neither decides on its own. With candidate consent, random webcam photos can be added.

Use the score as one hiring signal

Treat the CEFR-aligned estimate as evidence to review, not a hiring decision. The test covers grammar, word use and spelling, short workplace reading and listening, but it does not test speaking or writing. Pair the result with a short Dutch work sample, such as responding to a customer message, and a structured interview. For roles such as Customer Support Agent or Sales Development Rep, assess the Dutch tasks the job actually requires.

أسئلة المقابلة المنظّمة

  1. Tell me about a time you had to understand a Dutch message and decide how to respond.

Listen for a clear account of the message, the candidate's reasoning and how they checked their understanding.

  2. Walk me through how you would make a Dutch customer reply clear and precise.

Listen for practical choices about wording and how the candidate would confirm the reply fits the situation.

  3. Describe a Dutch text you have worked on and how you checked it before sharing it.

Listen for a relevant work example and a thoughtful approach to word choice, spelling and accuracy.

Fairness and accommodations

Questions use everyday workplace situations in standard Dutch shared by the Netherlands and Flanders, avoiding regional words, idioms, local references and points where the two usages differ, with names from many backgrounds. Recordings are short, spoken clearly and played once for every candidate, who needs sound to take the test. The level is a CEFR-aligned estimate from a short test, not a formal qualification, and speaking and writing are not tested.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: no norms exist yet. Reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed the test, and the level cut scores are set against a norming panel's results.
