الإجابة المختصرة
The Data Analysis Using R test is an intermediate, timed assessment for roles that analyze data in R. Multiple-choice questions ask candidates to read short code or output about cleaning and reshaping data, exploring summaries, fitting simple models, and presenting results. Use it for data analysts, data scientists, statisticians and similar data roles.
ما الذي يقيسه
Reading and reasoning about R code that cleans, explores, models and presents data.
Data manipulation and cleaning
Candidates reason about cleaning and reshaping data frames.
Exploratory analysis
Questions cover exploring data with summaries.
Statistical models and inference
Candidates interpret simple statistical models and their results.
Communicating results
Questions cover presenting findings with plots and formatted numbers.
Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Data analysts, data scientists, business and financial analysts, economists, statisticians, social science researchers, machine learning engineers and other roles that analyze data in R at an intermediate level.
Evidence from practical R work
Code interpretation, not syntax recall
Short R code snippets and their output let you assess whether a candidate can reason about data tasks, rather than rely on memorized syntax.
A small, self-contained data context
Each question builds or shows its own small data set, so candidates do not need to recall a built-in dataset or outside subject knowledge.
Base R or package style
Questions accept both base R and the common package style, so a candidate who learned one way of writing R is not marked down for it.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test design and review signals
Each candidate receives a different set from large question pools. Question order and answer options are shuffled, and the browser receives one question at a time. Answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. The 10-minute timer runs on the server; reloading restores the same question with only the time left. Candidates cannot copy or select question text, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read. The employer reviews the Integrity Score and evidence timeline; neither makes a decision on its own. With candidate consent, random webcam photos can be added. Use the score as evidence
Review the score alongside a work sample using R data cleaning, summaries, or a simple model. Ask the candidate to explain choices and results in a structured interview. Consider which tasks match the role, and do not use the score alone to decide. For related screening options, see Pandas and Data Science.
أسئلة المقابلة المنظّمة
How would you check a data frame before using it to answer a business question?
Listen for a clear approach to cleaning or reshaping data and checking summaries, tied to the question being answered.
Tell me about a time you used a simple statistical model to inform an analysis. How did you interpret its result?
Listen for a specific explanation of the model’s result and how it informed the analysis, without treating the model as the whole answer.
How would you present an analysis result to a colleague who needs to act on it?
Listen for choices about using a plot or formatted numbers to make the result understandable.
Understand scoring and benchmarks
Fairness and accommodations
Every question builds or shows its own small data set, so no candidate needs to remember a built-in dataset or any subject knowledge outside data analysis. The data uses neutral topics such as orders, visits, sensor readings and survey answers, with names from many backgrounds and no money. Questions accept both base R and the common package style, code is kept short, and scratch paper is allowed for every candidate.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
Test details
A timed, multiple-choice test of working with data in R. It covers cleaning and reshaping data frames, exploring data with summaries, fitting and reading simple statistical models, and presenting results with plots and formatted numbers. Most questions show a short piece of R code or its output and ask what it does or what it means, so candidates need working fluency rather than memorized syntax.
- Questions are in English.
- Aids allowed: Scratch paper.
- Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
- 4 practice questions, 5 minutes, before the timed test.
- Taken on a desktop or laptop computer.

الأسئلة الشائعة
How does the Data Analysis Using R test keep questions fair?+
Each question includes its own small data set, using neutral topics such as orders, visits, sensor readings, and survey answers, with names from many backgrounds and no money. Candidates need no built-in dataset or subject knowledge outside data analysis, and code is kept short.
What should candidates know about taking the Data Analysis Using R test?+
The test has 15 multiple-choice questions in 10 minutes and is desktop-only. Candidates cannot return to an earlier question. Scratch paper is allowed, so they can work through code or output as they answer.
Is there a practice set for the Data Analysis Using R test?+
Yes. The practice set has 4 questions and takes 5 minutes. It gives candidates a chance to see the multiple-choice format and the style of questions that show short R code or output before taking the hiring assessment.
Which roles fit the intermediate Data Analysis Using R test?+
It is intended for intermediate-level data analysts, data scientists, business and financial analysts, economists, statisticians, social science researchers, machine learning engineers, and other roles that analyze data in R. Match the role’s actual work to the test’s coverage of cleaning, exploration, models, and results.
