Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Roles that build or deliver presentations: business development, consulting, marketing, sales, design, training, and team or project leads.
What this test can show
See practical presentation skills
Scenario questions show how candidates approach slide layouts, themes, animation, and sharing, beyond what a resume lists.
Check more than slide appearance
Questions also cover slide order and working with shapes, pictures, charts, tables, and media.
Focus follow-up conversations
Use the results to choose which PowerPoint tasks to explore in an interview or a work sample.
Match assessment to the role
Consider it for presentation-building work in marketing, business development, consulting, sales, design, training, or team and project leadership.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
How the assessment is delivered
Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools. Questions appear in a different order for each attempt, and answer options are shuffled. The browser receives one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server. If a candidate reloads, the same question returns with only the time that was left. Candidates cannot copy or select question text; a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. Each invitation link is personal and expires, and a finished test cannot be taken again. HireValid records signals and summarizes them in an Integrity Score with an evidence timeline for employer review. The score does not decide on its own. With candidate consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as one source of evidence
Review the score alongside a work sample and a structured interview, never on its own. For a role such as Marketing Coordinator, ask the candidate to plan a short deck and explain choices about slide order, charts, or sharing. For a Sales Development Rep, use a presentation task that fits the role. Compare what the candidate does with the scenario-based evidence from the test. You can also consider related software skills through the Microsoft Word test.

Fairness and accommodations
Questions describe the current desktop version of PowerPoint, naming tabs and commands as they appear on its ribbon, and avoid features that differ between versions or devices. Each question gives every detail it asks about in its text or a short table, so nothing depends on remembering a particular screen. Scenarios use everyday workplace topics, names from many backgrounds, no money symbols, and never ask about colors alone.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
Test details
Scenario questions on everyday Microsoft PowerPoint work at an intermediate level. They cover building a clear and consistent deck (layouts, slide masters, themes and slide order), animating, presenting and sharing it with others, and working with shapes, pictures, charts, tables and media. Many questions show a short table, such as an animation order or a slide plan, and ask what happens or which approach is right.
- Questions are in English.
- No aids are needed.
- Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
- 4 practice questions, 4 minutes, before the timed test.
