الإجابة المختصرة

The Object Oriented Programming assessment is a 10-minute set of 15 multiple-choice, short code-reading questions. It measures how well intermediate software engineers and other developers who write or review object-oriented code read, predict and design classes, objects, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, interfaces and type parameters across Java, Python, C# and TypeScript.

ما الذي يقيسه

How well a developer reads, predicts and designs object-oriented code: classes, objects, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, interfaces and type parameters.

Core language mechanics

Candidates trace small programs and predict their behavior using core language features.

Classes and objects

Questions ask candidates to reason about classes and objects or spot where a class design goes wrong.

Encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism and abstraction

Candidates apply encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism and abstraction to code behavior and design.

Contracts, abstract types and type parameters

Candidates choose how to model requirements using interfaces, abstract types and type parameters.

Question formats

Multiple choice

The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.

You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.

15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.

Roles this test fits

Software engineers, backend and frontend developers, mobile and game developers, and other roles that write or review object-oriented code day to day at an intermediate level.

What this test can show

  1. Code judgment, not just resume claims

See how a candidate predicts what short object-oriented programs print, rather than relying only on a description of past work.

  2. Design choices in context

The questions ask candidates to identify a class-design problem or model a requirement with classes, interfaces and type parameters.

  3. Relevant to everyday code review

Use a signal focused on object-oriented code for software engineers and developers who write or review it at an intermediate level.

  4. A focused first step

The 10-minute test gives you a concise signal to help focus later work-sample and interview time.

Test integrity signals

Each candidate gets a different set of questions drawn from large question pools. Question order and answer options are shuffled, and the browser shows one question at a time. Answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server, so reloading restores the same question with only the time left. Candidates cannot return to earlier questions. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. Personal invitation links expire, and a finished test cannot be taken again. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read. It summarizes them in an Integrity Score and evidence timeline for employer review; it never decides on its own. With candidate consent, employers can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as one signal

Review the score as evidence for a person to consider, not as a hiring decision. Pair it with a work sample that asks candidates to trace or design object-oriented code, then discuss their choices in a structured interview. For other library options, see the Software Engineer, Git and .NET test pages.

أسئلة المقابلة المنظّمة

  1. How would you model several shapes that need to report their areas?

Listen for how the candidate separates shared expectations from shape-specific behavior, and how they would represent those choices in code.

  2. A subclass produces an unexpected result when a small program runs. How would you investigate it?

Listen for a step-by-step approach to tracing behavior, checking inheritance and explaining what the program should do.

  3. How would you design a feature that applies the same operation to several kinds of inventory items?

Listen for a clear account of the contracts or type parameters they would use, and how those choices fit the requirement.

Fairness and accommodations

Every snippet is short, names its language, and uses only core features shared by mainstream object-oriented languages, with no framework or library knowledge needed. Scenarios use neutral domains such as shapes, inventories, sensors and accounts of points rather than money, with names from many backgrounds. Questions are written in plain US English so the test measures programming judgment rather than reading speed, and scratch paper is allowed for tracing code.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: no norms exist yet, and reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.

Test details

A timed set of short code-reading questions on object-oriented design and behavior. Candidates trace what small programs print, spot where a class design goes wrong, and choose how to model a requirement with classes, interfaces and type parameters. Snippets are written in Java, Python, C# or TypeScript and use only core language features.

  • Questions are in English.
  • Aids allowed: Scratch paper.
  • Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
  • 4 practice questions, 4 minutes, before the timed test.

الأسئلة الشائعة

What does the Object Oriented Programming assessment measure?+

It measures how candidates read, predict and design object-oriented code, including classes, objects, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, interfaces and type parameters. Questions use short code snippets and practical design choices.

Which programming languages appear in the Object Oriented Programming assessment?+

Snippets are written in Java, Python, C# or TypeScript. Each snippet names its language and uses core features, with no framework or library knowledge needed.

Do candidates write code in the Object Oriented Programming assessment?+

No. The 15 questions are multiple choice. Candidates read snippets, predict what small programs print, spot a class-design problem or choose how to model a requirement.

How long does the Object Oriented Programming assessment take?+

The test takes 10 minutes. Candidates can also try a practice set of 4 questions that takes 4 minutes. Scratch paper is allowed during the test.
