Multiple choice

You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
12 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Roles that record, track or report results: data entry specialists, data assistants, data analysts, marketing analysts, marketing managers, and operations or sales staff who prepare reports.
Evidence from everyday data work
Check record consistency
See candidates work with clean, consistent records, not just describe their reporting experience on a resume.
Choosing the right summary
Candidates have a calculator and scratch paper, so the questions turn on picking the right average, share or change for a small table more than on mental arithmetic.
See chart judgment in context
Every question includes its own table or chart, so candidates answer from the data in front of them.
Use questions built for broad access
Workplace examples avoid local knowledge, idioms, and tool familiarity. Chart series use labels and markers or patterns as well as color.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test integrity signals for review
Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools, in a different order, with shuffled answer options. The browser receives one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. The 10-minute timer runs on the server; reloading restores the same question with only the time left. Candidates cannot copy or select question text, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline summarize signals for employer review; neither decides on its own. With candidate consent, employers can add webcam photos at random moments. See the candidate-friendly hiring guide for more on the candidate experience.

Use the score as evidence
Treat the score as one signal for a person to review, not as a decision by itself. Compare it with a work sample, such as cleaning a small record set, summarizing a table, or explaining what a chart supports. Then use a structured interview with the same job-related questions for each candidate. For related data skills, see Exploratory Data Analysis and Data-Driven Decision Making.

Fairness and accommodations
Questions use general workplace data such as orders, visits, survey answers and stock counts, with no currency symbols, idioms, sports or local knowledge. Names come from many backgrounds, dates are written with the month as a word, and no tool or product knowledge is needed. In charts every series is labeled and told apart by its marker or pattern as well as its color, so color vision does not affect the answer. A calculator and scratch paper are available to every candidate.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
