الإجابة المختصرة

The Numeric Keypad Entry: Numbers test is a 3-minute, entry-level 10-key test: candidates key in two short lists of whole numbers as quickly and accurately as possible. It reports speed and accuracy, the share of characters entered correctly, for data entry, bookkeeping, payroll, billing and order processing roles.

ما الذي يقيسه

Speed and accuracy when keying in lists of whole numbers.

Number entry speed and accuracy

Covers how quickly candidates key in lists of whole numbers and how many characters they enter correctly.

Question formats

Typing

The candidate: Types a passage or a set of figures as quickly and accurately as they can.

You see: Speed together with accuracy, so fast but careless typing does not score well.

2 questions in 3 minutes, served one at a time.

Roles this test fits

Roles that enter a lot of figures: data entry, bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, medical billing, administrative and office support, and inventory or order processing.

What the number entry test shows that a resume does not

  1. Real number entry speed

Speed is measured from the candidate's own keystrokes, against a target of about 8,000 keystrokes an hour, not taken from a line on a resume.

  2. Accuracy with figures

A transposed digit in an account number causes more work later than a slower entry. Accuracy is the share of characters entered correctly.

  3. A fair comparison

The lists hold only digits and single spaces, with no words, money symbols or formats tied to one country, so no local knowledge is needed.

How the number entry test resists shortcuts

Number entry is a hands-on skill: there is nothing for an AI tool to answer. Speed and accuracy are measured from the candidate's own keystrokes, and pasted or instantly appearing text is recorded. Each candidate gets different lists, and timing runs on the server, so a reload brings back the same list with only the time that was left. There is no going back to an earlier list, and each invitation link is personal and expires.

Signals such as time away from the tab and pastes are summarized in an Integrity Score with a timeline for the employer to review; it never decides on its own.

How to use the number entry result

Look at accuracy first: for most data entry roles, a candidate who is accurate at a steady pace does better work than a faster one whose entries need checking. With only two short lists per attempt, a result can vary from one sitting to the next, so treat small differences as noise.

The result is evidence, never the decision. Follow it with a short work sample in your own system or a copy of it: ten realistic records to enter, one or two with a problem such as a missing field. You will see whether the candidate checks their work and flags problems rather than guessing.

Interview questions to follow the number entry test

  1. How do you keep your accuracy high over a long shift of entering figures?

Listen for concrete habits, such as checking totals, taking short breaks and rereading long numbers.

  2. What do you do when a figure on a source document is unclear?

Listen for flagging it through the agreed process rather than guessing the most likely value.

  3. You notice you entered a reference with two digits swapped a few records ago. What do you do?

Listen for correcting it at once and checking the records around it for the same slip.

Fairness and accommodations

The lists contain only digits and single spaces, with no words, names, money symbols or formats tied to one country, so no language or local knowledge is needed. The numbers are generated without patterns or meaning, which keeps every list of comparable difficulty. The test needs a computer keyboard, so candidates are told before they start that it cannot be taken on a phone. A numeric keypad is recommended, but the number row works as well.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: with only two short lists per attempt, scores can vary from one sitting to the next. Reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
