Roles this test fits

Designers who produce vector artwork day to day: graphic, visual, brand, marketing, web and in-house designers, illustrators, and people who build infographics, icons or packaging.

A focused way to review Illustrator knowledge

  1. Look beyond a resume

The test samples practical knowledge of documents, vector editing, styling, type, images and output. Use it as one signal alongside a candidate's portfolio and work history.

  2. Keep review focused

Every question describes an everyday design task and the panels, settings or results a designer encounters. Use the results to guide a job-related conversation.

  3. Match the test to the work

Choose this assessment when the role calls for day-to-day vector artwork, such as graphic, brand, marketing or in-house design, illustration, icons or packaging.

Test integrity features

Each candidate gets a different set of questions from large question pools. Questions appear in a different order for each attempt, and answer options are shuffled. The browser receives one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server; reloading brings back the same question with only the time left. Candidates cannot go back to earlier questions. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid summarizes signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read in an Integrity Score with an evidence timeline for the employer to review. It never decides on its own. With candidate consent, the employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as evidence

Review the score alongside a relevant work sample and a structured interview. It is one signal for a person to consider, not a decision on its own. For context on hiring assessments, read our pre-employment testing guide and candidate-friendly hiring guide. You can also browse the test library for other role needs.

结构化面试问题

  1. Tell me about a vector artwork task where you had to revise paths or shapes. How did you approach the changes?

Listen for a clear account of the design task, the editing choices made and how the candidate checked the result.

  2. Walk me through how you would set up an Illustrator document for a project with several pieces of artwork.

Listen for practical thinking about documents and artboards, and how the setup fits the deliverable.

  3. Describe how you have prepared artwork with type and placed images for print or screens.

Listen for a relevant example of handling type, images and output, including how the candidate checked the prepared file.

Fairness and accommodations

Questions name tools, panels and menu commands rather than keyboard shortcuts, so they read the same on every supported desktop operating system and do not reward memorized keystrokes. They describe tasks in plain US English with neutral design briefs, avoid features found only in the newest release, and never ask candidates to tell apart colors by sight. Scenarios use names and clients from many backgrounds.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
