Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Process improvement, operational excellence and quality roles: improvement specialists and leads, quality engineers and analysts, operations managers, and practitioners working at Green Belt or Black Belt level in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, services and shared service centers.
What this test can add to hiring
See applied knowledge
A resume can list Lean Six Sigma experience, but it does not show how a person handles a short process situation. Multiple-choice questions ask candidates to read a situation, table or statement and choose the right answer, or every right answer.
Check several related skills
The results provide evidence about fundamentals, process data analysis, root cause problem solving and improvement project management in one 10-minute test.
Focus follow-up discussion
Use the test as an early signal, then ask candidates to explain how they would approach a process issue relevant to your team. This gives an interviewer a specific starting point instead of relying on a resume alone.
Keep the next step job-related
Pair the result with a work sample based on a process your team understands. A reviewer can consider how the candidate approaches the work alongside the test evidence.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test integrity signals for employer review
Each candidate receives a different set of questions drawn from large question pools. Questions appear in a different order on each attempt, and answer options are shuffled. The browser receives one question at a time, while answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server, so reloading brings back the same question with only the time that was left. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. Invitation links are personal and expire, and a finished test cannot be taken again. HireValid summarizes signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read in an Integrity Score with an evidence timeline. The employer reviews these signals; they do not decide on their own. With candidate consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as one piece of evidence
Treat the score as evidence for a person to review, not as a decision or a standalone verdict. Compare it with a relevant work sample, such as asking the candidate to examine a short process situation or data table your team provides. Then use a structured interview with the same job-related questions for each candidate. Consider how the person explains their reasoning, what information they use and how their examples relate to the role. The test takes 10 minutes and has 15 questions. Candidates may use a calculator and scratch paper, and they cannot go back to an earlier question. Allow those conditions for every candidate you assess.
结构化面试问题
Tell me about a process problem you worked on. How did you decide what to investigate first?
Listen for a clear account of the problem, the information considered and the steps the candidate took to trace a cause.
Describe a time you used process data to guide an improvement. What did you examine, and how did it shape your next step?
Listen for a connection between the data and the action taken, rather than a general claim about being data-driven.
How have you kept an improvement project moving when the next step was unclear?
Listen for how the candidate organized the work, made decisions and explained their contribution to project progress.
What would you want to learn before recommending a change to a process with recurring errors?
Listen for questions about the process and evidence that could help identify a cause before choosing an improvement.
Understand scoring and benchmarks
Roles and experience this test suits
This test is designed for process improvement, operational excellence and quality roles. Relevant roles include improvement specialists and leads, quality engineers and analysts, operations managers, and practitioners working at Green Belt or Black Belt level. The settings can include manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, services and shared service centers. A Six Sigma test can provide an initial signal for these roles, but the employer should review it alongside role-specific evidence and an interview. For a broader hiring approach, see the pre-employment testing guide and candidate-friendly hiring guide.
Question format and fair access
The 15 questions are multiple choice. Each presents a short situation, table or statement and asks the candidate to choose the right answer, or every right answer. Questions use brief workplace situations and small data tables to assess applying Lean and Six Sigma methods, not just recognizing terms. Settings include factories, warehouses, clinics, offices and service desks. Data use units, minutes, counts and percentages, without money symbols, idioms or local knowledge. Every number needed for a calculation appears in the question. A calculator and scratch paper are allowed for every candidate, and conventions that vary between teams are stated in the question. Candidates can try a separate practice set of four questions in four minutes. The test is not desktop-only, and candidates cannot go back to earlier questions. See how we build our tests for more about HireValid’s test development.
Pair it with a related skills check
Choose an additional assessment only when it reflects a separate need in the role. For example, a role that also involves working with data pipelines may call for the Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) test. A role with a different specialist focus may call for another assessment from the test library. Keep each result tied to the skills it measures, and review the evidence with the candidate’s work sample and interview.
Fairness and accommodations
Questions use settings from many industries, including factories, warehouses, clinics, offices and service desks, so no single sector is favored. Data are given in units, minutes, counts and percentages, with no money symbols, idioms or local knowledge, and names come from many backgrounds. Every number a calculation needs is shown in the question, an on-screen calculator and scratch paper are allowed for every candidate, and conventions that vary between teams (such as decision thresholds) are stated in the question rather than assumed.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
