简短回答

The leadership and people management test is an intermediate situational judgment test for team leaders, supervisors, managers and people stepping into those roles. In 10 short scenarios, candidates choose the most effective action from four options. It measures judgment in delegation, developing others, feedback and guidance, and gaining support for ideas, with partial credit for the second-best action.

Roles this test fits

Team leaders, supervisors and managers, and people stepping into those roles, in areas such as product, sales, marketing, HR, operations, health care administration and senior leadership.

What this test adds to your hiring process

  1. Judgment without company context

Each scenario states the facts its best action depends on, so a candidate from another industry or a first-time lead is judged on people judgment, not on knowing your policies.

  2. Feedback and buy-in scored apart

Feedback and Guidance and Influence and Buy-in are separate sub-skills, so you can see whether a candidate leads well inside the team but struggles to win support outside it.

  3. Credit for near-best choices

The second-best action earns partial credit, so the score shows how close a candidate's judgment is in situations where several actions are reasonable.

Test integrity features

Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools. Questions appear in a different order for each attempt, and answer options are shuffled. The browser shows one question at a time; answer keys stay on HireValid's servers. Timing runs on the server, so reloading returns the same question with only the remaining time, and candidates cannot go back. Each scenario turns on the facts it states, and the actions are alike in length and tone, so the details on the screen decide the best one. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and each invitation link is personal and expires. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab and answers faster than a question can be read, then summarizes them in an Integrity Score and evidence timeline for employer review. It never decides on its own.

Use the score as one piece of evidence

Review the score alongside a job-relevant work sample and a structured interview. For a team lead or manager opening, you might ask the candidate to plan how to delegate a piece of work, then discuss how they would support the people involved. Use the sub-skill scores to decide which areas to explore, and consider the role's actual responsibilities. Do not use the score alone to make a hiring decision. You can also compare what this test covers with Business Judgment or Change Management.

结构化面试问题

  1. Tell me about a time you handed an important piece of work to someone else. How did you decide what to delegate and how to support them?

Listen for the candidate's reasoning about the work, the person taking it on and the support they provided.

  2. Describe a time you helped someone on your team develop a skill. What did you do, and what did you learn from the experience?

Listen for specific actions to help the person grow and how the candidate adapted their approach.

  3. Tell me about a time you needed support for a plan. How did you approach the people whose buy-in mattered?

Listen for how the candidate explained the plan, responded to others and worked to build support.

Fairness and accommodations

Every scenario states the facts its best action depends on, so no company policy, employment law or local custom about hierarchy is needed. Settings span many industries, names reflect many backgrounds, genders and ages, no group is drawn to type, and the four actions in each scenario are alike in length and tone.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

No norms yet: how consistent the scores are will be reported once about 200 candidates have taken the test.
