简短回答

The Figma test is a 10-minute, 15-question assessment of intermediate working knowledge for interface design. Multiple-choice scenario questions cover styles and variables, frames, auto layout and constraints, components and variants, prototyping, collaboration and handoff. It is designed for product designers, UX and UI designers, web designers, visual designers and others who build interface designs in Figma day to day.

测量内容

Working knowledge of Figma for interface design: styles and variables, layout, components and variants, and prototyping and handoff.

Design system basics

Questions cover setting up styles and variables for interface design work.

Frames, auto layout and constraints

Scenarios ask how frames, auto layout and constraints shape a screen's layout.

Components and variants

Questions cover working with components and variants in a design file.

Prototyping, collaboration and handoff

Scenarios cover building prototypes, sharing files and preparing designs for developers.

Question formats

Multiple choice

The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.

You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.

15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.

Roles this test fits

Product designers, UX and UI designers, web designers, visual designers, and other roles that build interface designs in Figma day to day.

What the Figma test can show

  1. Applied Figma knowledge

See how a candidate reasons about styles, variables, layouts and components, beyond what a resume lists.

  2. File-based decisions

Each question describes layers and settings, often in a small table, and asks what happens or which approach is right.

  3. A focused screen

Use 15 questions in 10 minutes to gather evidence on everyday Figma interface work before reviewing a work sample.

Test integrity signals

Each candidate receives a different question set from large question pools. Questions appear in a different order for each attempt, and answer options are shuffled. The browser receives one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server. If a candidate reloads the page, the same question returns with only the time left. Candidates cannot go back to earlier questions. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read. The employer can review an Integrity Score and evidence timeline; the score never decides on its own.

Use the score as evidence

Review the score alongside a Figma work sample and a structured interview. Ask the candidate to explain decisions about styles and variables, layout behavior or developer handoff, then compare their reasoning with the sample. The assessment adds one source of evidence; it should not decide on its own. See our pre-employment testing guide and how we build our tests for more context. 结构化面试问题

  1. Tell me about a Figma screen where the layout changed across different content. How did you set it up?

Listen for a clear account of frames, auto layout or constraints and how the candidate considered the screen's behavior.

  2. Describe a time you chose to use a component or variant in an interface design. What informed your choice?

Listen for a specific design need and an explanation of how components or variants fit that need.

  3. Walk me through how you prepare a Figma design for developers and share it with collaborators.

Listen for concrete steps involving prototypes, file sharing and handoff, rather than a list of feature definitions.

Fairness and accommodations

Questions cover only features available on every Figma plan, including the free plan, so candidates who have worked on a free account are not at a disadvantage; nothing depends on Dev Mode, publishing team libraries, branching, variable modes or variable-driven prototype logic. Each question describes the layers and settings it asks about in text or a small table rather than a screenshot, and asks how a feature behaves rather than where a button sits, so it does not depend on one version of the interface. Scenarios use neutral product screens with no brands, money or local knowledge, in plain US English.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
