简短回答
The NLP test is a 10-minute, 15-question check of practical NLP knowledge for NLP engineers, machine learning engineers, AI engineers, data scientists, data analysts who work with text, and other roles needing working NLP knowledge. Multiple-choice questions cover preparing text, turning text into model features, extracting information, building dialogue and topic tools, and working with transformer language models.
测量内容
Practical knowledge of preparing text, building and evaluating text models, extracting information, and working with transformer language models.
Text preparation
Covers decisions about preparing raw text for use in natural language processing.
Text features and classifiers
Covers turning text into features for models and working with classifiers.
Extraction, dialogue systems and topics
Covers pulling structured facts from text and working with dialogue and topic tools.
Transformers and language models
Covers working with transformer language models.
Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
NLP engineers, machine learning engineers, AI engineers, data scientists and data analysts who work with text, and other roles that need a working knowledge of natural language processing.
What this NLP test can show
Evidence beyond a resume
See how candidates handle text preparation, model features, extraction, dialogue systems, topics, and transformer language models.
A focused skills check
Use 15 multiple-choice questions to check practical NLP knowledge, including short Python snippets using built-in features and standard-library modules.
A concise first step
The 10-minute format gives you a focused signal to review alongside a work sample and structured interview.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
How the assessment is delivered
Each attempt draws a different question set from large question pools. Question order changes by attempt, and answer options are shuffled. The browser receives one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server; reloading restores the same question with only the time left. Candidates cannot return to earlier questions. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline are provided for employer review; the score never decides on its own. With consent, employers can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as evidence
Review the score alongside a work sample and a structured interview. Ask candidates to explain how they would prepare text, build or evaluate a text model, or extract information, then compare their reasoning with the test evidence. 结构化面试问题
Tell me about raw text you prepared for a model. What choices did you make, and why?
Listen for choices tied to the data and the task, and how the candidate judged whether they helped.
Describe a text classification task you worked on. How did you choose the features and the classifier?
Listen for reasoning about features, model choices, and evaluation.
How would you extract structured facts from a collection of text?
Listen for a clear approach to finding information and representing it in structured form.
How would you assess whether a dialogue or topic tool is working as intended?
Listen for how the candidate would evaluate the tool in relation to its task.

Fairness and accommodations
Questions ask about concepts and decisions a practitioner meets at work, not the details of one library or its version. Code is short Python using only its built-in features and the standard-library modules re, collections and math, never a third-party library or behavior that differs between versions. Example sentences are plain, neutral English with names from many backgrounds, and no example relies on idioms, sports, holidays or local knowledge. Any arithmetic uses small numbers that work on scratch paper, which every candidate may use.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
Test details
A timed check of practical knowledge in natural language processing. Candidates answer short questions and work-style scenarios on preparing raw text, turning text into features for models, pulling structured facts out of text, building conversational and topic tools, and working with transformer language models. Some questions show a few lines of Python to read.
- Questions are in English.
- Aids allowed: Scratch paper.
- Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
- 4 practice questions, 3 minutes, before the timed test.
