Kısa yanıt
The Data Security and Compliance test is an intermediate multiple-choice assessment of applied judgment when handling sensitive data. It measures data governance and risk, data protection, access control, and day-to-day security operations. Use it when hiring database administrators, data architects, data governance or security specialists, compliance or privacy officers, and engineers or analysts who handle sensitive data.
Ölçtüğü şey
Applied knowledge of data governance and risk, data protection, access control and day-to-day security operations.
Governance and risk
Candidates weigh risks and obligations while considering how data is classified and managed.
Veri koruma
Questions cover how sensitive data is kept safe and how its classification affects handling.
Identity and access management
Candidates consider who should be able to reach data using scenarios that may include an access list.
Security operations and awareness
Scenarios ask candidates to respond to day-to-day security concerns, including what to do when something looks wrong.
Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Database administrators, data architects, data governance and data security specialists, compliance and privacy officers, and engineers or analysts who handle sensitive data.
What the test can show
Judgment in context
Workplace situations, data inventories, access lists, and log excerpts show how candidates apply security knowledge, not just recall a definition.
Handling sensitive data
See how candidates reason about classification, keeping data safe, and who should have access to it.
Responding when something looks wrong
Log excerpts and workplace situations show what a candidate would do when an entry or request looks wrong, not only whether they know the rules.
Principles across frameworks
Questions use principles shared by major data protection and security frameworks, without depending on one country's law or a vendor's product.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test controls and review signals
Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools. Question order and answer options are shuffled, and the browser shows one question at a time; answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. The 10-minute timer runs on the server. Reloading returns the same question with only the time left, and candidates cannot go back to earlier questions. Question text cannot be copied or selected; a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid also records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read. The employer reviews those signals in an Integrity Score and evidence timeline, which never decide on their own. With candidate consent, the employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as one piece of evidence
Review the score and any available evidence, then compare them with a work sample that asks the candidate to reason through a data inventory, access list, or log excerpt. Use a structured interview to explore the candidate's approach. Do not use the score alone to make a hiring decision. Yapılandırılmış mülakat soruları
How would you decide who should have access to a sensitive data set?
Listen for a clear explanation of how the candidate would consider the data and the people requesting access, rather than a memorized definition.
What would you do after noticing an unexpected entry in a security log?
Listen for a practical response to something that looks wrong and a reasoned account of how they would assess it.
How would you approach classifying data before deciding how to protect it?
Listen for connected reasoning about classification, safe handling, risk, and obligations.
A team wants to use a sensitive data set for a new purpose. How would you weigh the risks and obligations before agreeing?
Listen for how the candidate identifies the data, what was agreed about its use, and what safeguards they would want first.

Fairness and accommodations
Questions test principles shared by the major data protection and security frameworks. No question depends on one country's law, article numbers or deadlines, or on any vendor's product. Scenarios use plain language, names from many backgrounds, fictional organizations, reserved example addresses and no money symbols. Each question keeps to 90 words so that reading speed weighs as little as possible.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
Test details
A short multiple-choice check of the working judgment people need when they look after sensitive data. It covers how data is classified and kept safe, who should be able to reach it, how risks and obligations are weighed, and what to do when something looks wrong. Most questions are set in a workplace situation, a data inventory, an access list or a log excerpt rather than asking for a definition.
- Questions are in English.
- No aids are needed.
- Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
- 4 practice questions, 4 minutes, before the timed test.
