Roles this test fits

HR managers and generalists, HR business partners, employee relations and pay and benefits specialists, inclusion leads, and operations or people managers who make hiring, pay and leave decisions.

What this test can show

  1. Applying rules to situations

Brief workplace scenarios ask candidates to choose a step that keeps the employer within federal law, not just recall a rule.

  2. Reasoning with given facts

Questions provide needed details, such as employer size or hours worked, so candidates can focus on applying the facts.

  3. Working through pay details

Some questions use a small table and round-number pay arithmetic. Scratch paper is allowed, and no calculator is needed for that arithmetic.

Test integrity signals

Each candidate receives a different set from large question pools. Questions appear one at a time, in a different order, with shuffled answer options. Candidates cannot go back to an earlier question. The 10-minute timer runs on the server; reloading restores the same question with only the time left. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read. The employer can review an Integrity Score and evidence timeline; neither makes a decision on its own. With candidate consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as one piece of evidence

Review the score alongside a job-relevant work sample and a structured interview, never on its own. For example, discuss how the candidate would handle a workplace situation involving pay or a complaint, then compare their reasoning with their sub-skill scores. Consider the related HR Management and Business Ethics and Compliance tests when choosing other areas to assess.

Yapılandırılmış mülakat soruları

  1. A staff member raises a complaint about unfair treatment. How would you decide what to do next?

Listen for a clear, job-relevant way to handle the complaint and apply the facts, rather than a memorized definition.

  2. An hourly employee says their paycheck does not match the hours on their timesheet. What would you check, and what would you do next?

Listen for careful use of the recorded hours and pay details, and a clear explanation of the next step.

  3. A manager asks about a leave or remote-work situation. What information would guide your response?

Listen for attention to the specific facts and a practical application of the relevant federal rules.

Fairness and accommodations

Questions cover federal rules only, so no candidate is tested on one state's law, and every fact a question needs, such as employer size or hours worked, is given in it. Scenarios use names from many backgrounds, vary the traits and situations involved without stereotypes, describe misconduct and health conditions in neutral words, and keep the reading level of a workplace memo. Scratch paper is allowed, and any pay arithmetic uses round numbers so no calculator is needed.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it. Questions are reviewed when federal rules change.
