What this test adds to your hiring process

  1. Evidence beyond a resume

See how candidates choose a response to a business negotiation, not just where they have worked.

  2. A focused view of judgment

Ten scenarios cover steering the talk, persuasion, understanding the other side and handling emotions.

  3. A practical use of interview time

Use the candidate’s scenario choices to focus follow-up on how they reach terms with customers, suppliers, partners or colleagues.

  4. Credit for a close alternative

The second-best move earns partial credit, giving you more information than a score based only on the top choice.

How the test supports a fair review

Each candidate gets a different set of questions from large pools. Questions appear in a different order for each attempt, and answer options are shuffled. Timing runs on the server across the 10 minutes, and candidates cannot go back. Each scenario states the facts and rules that matter, while response options are alike in length and tone. The browser receives one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab and answers that are faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline are for the employer to review; they do not decide on their own. See how we build our tests.

Use the score as one hiring signal

Treat the Negotiation score as evidence for a person to review, not a decision by itself. Pair it with a work sample based on a relevant agreement your role handles, then use a structured interview with consistent, open questions. Consider whether the candidate’s reasoning fits the facts and limits in the scenario. For additional evidence, compare with Sales Aptitude or Active Listening, depending on the role.

Yapılandırılmış mülakat soruları

  1. Tell me about a time you had to reach an agreement with a customer, supplier or colleague. How did you decide what to do next?

Listen for how the candidate understood the other side, steered the discussion and handled emotions.

  2. Describe a negotiation where the other party raised a concern you had not expected. What did you do, and what happened?

Listen for how they responded to new information and persuaded the other party without relying on deception.

  3. Tell me about a time you could not agree on terms right away. How did you keep the discussion productive?

Listen for specific choices that moved the talk forward while recognizing the other party’s needs.

Fairness and accommodations

Every scenario states the facts, limits and deadlines it turns on, so no company's practice or one country's business custom is needed. Figures appear as quantities, days or percentages without currency. The four moves are alike in length and tone. Counterparties have names from many backgrounds, genders and ages, and none is drawn from a stereotype. The best move never relies on deception.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
