Jawaban singkat
The Smart Contracts test is a 10-minute, 15-question multiple-choice screen for intermediate Solidity developers, blockchain and Web3 engineers, and back-end or full-stack developers who build, deploy, or integrate decentralized apps. Candidates interpret short Solidity and JavaScript snippets to show how they handle contract structure, bugs and vulnerabilities, deployment and testing, and app calls.
Hal yang diukur
Reading and writing Solidity, finding bugs and common vulnerabilities in contracts, deploying and testing them, and calling them from an app.
Solidity and contract structure
Short Solidity snippets show how candidates read and write contract code and work with its structure.
Debugging and vulnerabilities
Code examples ask candidates to find bugs and common vulnerabilities in contracts.
Deployment and tooling
Questions cover compiling, deploying, and testing contracts with tools such as Truffle and Hardhat.
Web3 integration
JavaScript snippets show how an app calls a contract through web3.js or ethers.js.
Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Solidity developers, blockchain and Web3 engineers, and back-end or full-stack developers who build, deploy or integrate decentralized apps.
What this test can show
Inspect contract reasoning
Short Solidity snippets show how candidates read and write contract code, beyond listing Solidity on a resume.
See how they trace issues
Questions on bugs and common vulnerabilities give you evidence of how candidates interpret problematic contract code.
Check the deployment workflow
Questions cover compiling, deploying, and testing with tools such as Truffle and Hardhat, so you can review relevant hands-on knowledge.
Keep the code context clear
Plain US English, neutral identifiers, stated Solidity and library versions, and scratch paper help keep questions centered on technical skill.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test integrity signals for review
Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools. Questions appear one at a time, with a different order and shuffled answer options for each attempt. The browser does not receive answer keys. Timing runs on the server; reloading returns the same question with only the time left, and candidates cannot go back. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read. The employer reviews the Integrity Score and evidence timeline; the score never decides on its own. With candidate consent, random webcam photos can be added. See how we build our tests.

Use the score as evidence
Review the score alongside a work sample that asks the candidate to inspect contract code or connect an app to a contract. Then use a structured interview to explore their reasoning. The score is one signal for a person to review, not a hiring decision. You can also compare relevant signals with the Coding: Debugging test or Clean Code when those skills matter to the role.
Pertanyaan wawancara terstruktur
How would you trace a Solidity function that returns an unexpected value?
Listen for a clear walkthrough of the relevant code and how they would locate the issue.
How would you test a contract change before deploying it?
Listen for a practical account of testing and checking the changed contract.
How would you connect a JavaScript app to a deployed contract?
Listen for a grounded explanation of app calls through web3.js or ethers.js.
What would you investigate in a contract snippet that appears vulnerable?
Listen for how they identify the relevant code and explain their reasoning.

Fairness and accommodations
Questions use short code with plain, neutral identifiers and plain US English, so reading skill matters less than technical skill. No question is about tokens, coins, prices, trading or investing, any currency, or any one company's products beyond the tools named. Every question states the Solidity version and library versions it assumes, scratch paper is allowed for every candidate, and the code is short enough to read within each question's time.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
Test details
A short, timed test of hands-on smart contract work on Ethereum-compatible chains. Candidates read short Solidity and JavaScript snippets and answer questions on how contracts are structured, where a contract goes wrong, how it is compiled, deployed and tested with tools such as Truffle and Hardhat, and how an app talks to it through web3.js or ethers.js.
- Questions are in English.
- Aids allowed: Scratch paper.
- Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
- 4 practice questions, 4 minutes, before the timed test.

Pertanyaan yang sering diajukan
Who is the Smart Contracts test for?+
It is intended for intermediate Solidity developers, blockchain and Web3 engineers, and back-end or full-stack developers who build, deploy, or integrate decentralized apps. Use it when the role involves work such as reading Solidity, finding contract vulnerabilities, deploying and testing contracts, or calling them from an app.
Does the Smart Contracts test include tokens or trading?+
No. No question is about tokens, coins, prices, trading or investing, any currency, or any one company's products beyond the tools named. The test is about contract code itself. Questions use short code with plain, neutral identifiers and plain US English, so reading skill matters less than technical skill.
Can candidates use scratch paper during the Smart Contracts test?+
Yes. Scratch paper is allowed for every candidate. The test has no back navigation, so a candidate cannot return to an earlier question. A separate practice set has 4 questions and 4 minutes, which lets candidates get familiar with the test format before starting.
Which Solidity version does the Smart Contracts test assume?+
Each question states the Solidity version and library versions it assumes, so a candidate does not have to guess which release the code targets. The code is also short enough to read within each question's time, which keeps the focus on spotting what the contract does and where it goes wrong.
