It measures lifecycle and governance, stakeholder management, and budget and resource control for program managers and related roles.

Program lifecycle and governance
Candidates consider how to steer linked projects through their stages and keep them aligned with shared goals.
Stakeholder management

Budget and resource control

Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
12 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Program managers, senior project managers, project managers moving into program roles, and portfolio managers.
Useful evidence for hiring decisions
See judgment in context
Workplace scenarios show how candidates respond to roadmaps, risk logs and budget tables, evidence a resume alone cannot provide.
See choices that ripple across projects
Scenarios ask how to keep several projects aligned to shared goals, people and money, which a test of single-project tasks does not cover.
Separate scores for people and money
Stakeholder management and budget and resource control are scored as separate sub-skills, so you can see whether a candidate is stronger with people or with figures.
Framework-neutral wording
Plain terms shared across common delivery approaches, with every abbreviation spelled out, let candidates from different methods and industries show their judgment.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Assessment integrity features
The 10-minute assessment presents one question at a time, and candidates cannot go back to earlier questions. Each candidate receives a different set from large question pools; question order and answer options are shuffled. Answer keys never leave HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server, so reloading restores the same question with only the remaining time. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. Each invitation link is personal and expires, and a finished test cannot be taken again. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers given faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline are provided for employer review, and never make a decision on their own. With candidate consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as one piece of evidence
Review the score alongside a work sample and a structured interview. For example, ask the candidate to explain a program decision based on a roadmap, stakeholder map or budget table, then compare their reasoning with the assessment evidence. The score should inform a person’s review, not decide who advances. Fairness and accommodations
Scenarios are set in many industries and use plain terms shared across common delivery approaches, with every abbreviation spelled out, so no single framework or employer's vocabulary is needed. Budget figures are given in thousands with no currency symbol, names come from many backgrounds, and the arithmetic is light enough for scratch paper. Each question is short so the test measures judgment rather than reading speed.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.

Who is the Program Management assessment designed for?+
It is an intermediate-level hiring assessment for program managers, senior project managers, project managers moving into program roles, and portfolio managers. It suits roles where one person keeps several related projects aligned, rather than running a single project.
