The Django assessment is a 10-minute, 15-question multiple-choice check of practical Django knowledge. Developers interpret small code samples about models and queries, views, URLs and templates, tests and safe settings, plus forms and the admin site. It is intended for intermediate back-end, full-stack and web developers, and software engineers who build or maintain Django web applications.

Ölçtüğü şey

Multiple choice

The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.

You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.

15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.

Roles this test fits

Back-end, full-stack and web developers and software engineers who build or maintain web applications in Django.

What this check adds to a resume

  1. See knowledge in context

Small code samples show how candidates interpret models, queries and request handling, details a resume may not demonstrate.

  2. Cover several Django tasks

One short assessment checks routing and templates alongside tests, safe settings, forms and the admin site.

  3. Focus follow-up time

Results by area show whether to spend the interview on the ORM and migrations, on request handling, or on tests and protection against common web attacks.

Signals for an employer to review

Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools. Question order and answer options are shuffled, and the browser shows one question at a time. Answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Server timing means reloading restores the same question with only the time left. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline summarize signals for employer review; neither makes a decision on its own. With candidate consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments. Read how we build our tests.

Use the score as one piece of evidence

Review the score alongside a work sample and a structured interview, never as a stand-alone decision. Ask candidates to explain choices from Django code and connect them to the work they would do. For related skills, see the React and Spring tests.

Questions for a Django interview

  1. How would you trace a request from a URL to the response a user sees?

Listen for a clear account of routing, view behavior and how a template is rendered.

  2. How would you change a model and handle the data change in an existing application?

Listen for practical reasoning about models, migrations and the queries affected.

  3. How would you check that a form rejects unsuitable input?

Listen for an example of form handling and input checks, with a way to test the behavior.

  4. How would you investigate a test that fails after a change to a view?

Listen for a reasoned approach to the automated test and the request handling it covers.

Fairness and accommodations

Questions use short code samples about neutral subjects such as library loans, room bookings and task lists, with no currency symbols, idioms, sports or local knowledge. Names in the code come from many backgrounds, the English is plain and kept to what the code needs, and every question targets current long-term-support releases, so no one is marked down for knowing a newer or older way that still works.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.

Test details

A short, timed check of practical Django knowledge for developers who already build with it. Candidates read small code samples and choose what they do, what they return or how to fix them, across data models and queries, request handling and templates, automated tests and safe settings, and forms with the admin site.

  • Questions are in English.
  • No aids are needed.
  • Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
  • 4 practice questions, 4 minutes, before the timed test.

Sık sorulan sorular

Which Django version does the assessment use?+

Every question targets current long-term-support releases of Django. Where an older or newer way still works, it is not marked wrong, so a developer who has worked on a different supported release is not held back by version details.

How does the Django assessment account for different backgrounds?+

Code samples use neutral subjects such as library loans, room bookings and task lists, with no currency symbols, idioms, sports or local knowledge. Names in the code come from many backgrounds, and the English is plain and kept to what the code needs.

Can candidates use aids during the Django assessment?+

No aids are allowed. Candidates have 10 minutes for the assessment and cannot return to an earlier question. A separate practice set has 4 questions and takes 4 minutes, so candidates can get familiar with the question experience.

Which developers is the Django assessment intended for?+

It is an intermediate-level check for back-end, full-stack and web developers, as well as software engineers who build or maintain web applications in Django. Use it to add evidence about practical Django knowledge to your hiring review.
