Kısa yanıt
The React assessment is a 10-minute, 15-question check of practical React understanding for mid-level front-end and full-stack developers, UI engineers, and others who build or maintain React applications. Candidates read short component snippets and decide what they render, log, or change, choose a bug fix, or select a sound component structure.
Ölçtüğü şey
Practical understanding of React: hooks, state updates, component design patterns, and rendering behavior.
Hooks
Assess how candidates work with hooks in short React component snippets.
State management
Check understanding of how state is held and updated in a component.
Component design patterns
Explore how candidates choose common ways to compose and structure components.
Rendering and advanced concepts
Check how candidates reason about when and what React re-renders.
Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Front-end and full-stack developers, UI engineers, and other roles that build or maintain React applications, at a mid level.
What this assessment adds
See practical reasoning
Short component snippets show how candidates interpret React code, choose bug fixes, and make component structure decisions beyond what a resume can describe.
Focus review on key areas
The questions cover hooks, state updates, component patterns, and rendering behavior, giving you concrete topics to explore in a follow-up.
Keep the first check brief
A 10-minute assessment provides an early signal before you invest more interview time in a mid-level React candidate.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test setup and review signals
Each candidate receives a different question set from large pools; question order and answer options are shuffled. The browser shows one question at a time, and candidates cannot return to an earlier question. For this 10-minute, 15-question assessment, timing runs on the server; reloading restores the same question with only the time left. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline give the employer signals to review; neither decides on its own. With candidate consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments. Use the score as evidence
Review the score as one signal, not a hiring decision. Pair it with a work sample that asks the candidate to build or maintain a React interface, then use a structured interview to explore their choices. Compare the result with the work itself and the candidate’s explanation. If React is one of several technologies in the role, consider the related Angular or Shopify assessments where relevant.
Yapılandırılmış mülakat soruları
Walk me through how you would investigate a React component that shows stale information after a state update.
Listen for a clear account of how they would trace state updates and rendering behavior.
Tell me how you would structure a React component for a form with several related sections.
Listen for reasoning about component composition and how the candidate would keep the structure clear.
Describe a time you changed a React component after finding a bug. How did you decide what to change?
Listen for a specific example, a reasoned fix, and an explanation of the result.
Understand scoring and benchmarks
Fairness and accommodations
Questions use short, plain-English stems and neutral app scenarios such as to-do lists, forms, carts and dashboards, with names from many backgrounds and no idioms or local knowledge. Snippets use function components and modern hooks, and every answer is the same in React 18 and React 19, so candidates are not marked down for which recent version they learned. Code is kept short and formatted the same way throughout, so the test rewards understanding React rather than reading speed.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
Test details

Candidates read short component snippets and decide what they render, log or change, choose the right fix for a bug, or pick the sound way to structure a component. The questions cover hooks, how state is held and updated, common ways to compose components, and how React decides when and what to re-render.
- Questions are in English.
- No aids are needed.

What does the React assessment measure?+
It checks practical understanding of hooks, how state is held and updated, component design patterns, and rendering behavior. Candidates read short component snippets and choose what they render, log, or change, a bug fix, or a sound component structure.
How long is the React assessment?+
The assessment has 15 multiple-choice questions and a 10-minute limit. Candidates see one question at a time and cannot go back to an earlier question. A separate practice set has 4 questions and takes 3 minutes.
Which React roles is this assessment for?+
