Bookkeepers, accounts assistants and accountants, as well as finance managers, auditors and tax staff who prepare or review IFRS financial statements.
What this test helps you assess
Applied accounting, not just a resume
See how candidates post transactions and classify balances under IFRS, rather than relying only on a list of past duties.
A focused first check
Use 15 questions in 10 minutes to review practical accounting knowledge before spending time on a work sample or interview.
Statement preparation and interpretation
Check whether candidates can put together main financial statements and read what the figures say about a business.
A consistent starting point
Give candidates the same kind of short questions and provide an on-screen calculator and scratch paper.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Assessment integrity signals
Each candidate receives a different set of questions, drawn from large question pools. Question order and answer options are shuffled, and the browser receives one question at a time. The server runs the timer; reloading restores the same question with only the time left. Candidates cannot copy or select question text, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. Invitation links are personal and expire, and a finished test cannot be taken again. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read. It summarizes these in an Integrity Score and evidence timeline for you to review. It never decides on its own. With candidate consent, you can add webcam photos at random moments.

Use the score as one piece of evidence
Review the score alongside a work sample and a structured interview. Ask the candidate to record a few transactions from a short list and explain each entry, then compare that work with their sub-skill scores. The score is evidence for your review, not a decision or a pass mark. For a broader accounting screen, compare it with Accounting Fundamentals; for invoice-related work, consider Accounts Payable. The Bookkeeper role page can also help you connect the assessment to that role.

Fairness and accommodations
Amounts are whole numbers in neutral currency units (CU), with no national currency, tax rules or local regulations. The scenarios use ordinary businesses such as shops, workshops and service firms, and the names come from many backgrounds. The wording is plain so the test measures accounting knowledge rather than reading speed. Every candidate may use the on-screen calculator and scratch paper.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: no reliability figures yet. They will be reported after 200 candidates have taken the test.
