What the Health Care Aide test can show

  1. Everyday care judgment

Each scenario describes a client or patient and a task, so you can review a candidate’s practical approach to safe care and daily living support.

  2. Response to a change

Emergency scenarios ask what an aide should do, notice, or report, giving you evidence to discuss how the candidate approaches first response.

  3. Respectful communication

Questions include communication with clients, families, and the care team. The scenarios use cultural and religious preferences as choices to respect, not stereotypes.

Test integrity signals for review

Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large question pools, in a different order, with answer options shuffled. The browser receives one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Server timing means reloading restores the same question with only the time left; candidates cannot go back to earlier questions. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid summarizes signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers, and answers faster than a question can be read in an Integrity Score with an evidence timeline. An employer reviews these signals; the score does not decide on its own. See how we build our tests.

Use the score as one piece of evidence

Review the score alongside a work sample that reflects aide tasks and a structured interview. Ask candidates to explain their approach to a care situation, then compare their reasoning with the test’s scenarios on patient safety, daily living, emergency response, and communication. Consider the evidence in context; do not use the score alone to make a hiring decision. For more on hiring tests, read the pre-employment testing guide. You can also compare role-specific assessments such as Telehealth and Pharmacy Technician.

Yapılandırılmış mülakat soruları

  1. Tell me about a time you noticed a change in a client or patient. What did you notice, and what did you do next?

Listen for clear observations, a safe response, and an explanation of what they would report.

  2. Describe how you would support a client with a daily living task while respecting their preferences.

Listen for respectful communication and attention to the client’s stated preferences.

  3. Tell me about a time you had to communicate important care information to a family member or care team member.

Listen for a clear account of what information they shared and how they handled the conversation.

Fairness and accommodations

Questions describe everyday care situations in plain language at a reading level suited to the role, with metric units, no money, no brand names and no country-specific laws or forms. Emergency questions say to call the local emergency number rather than a particular number, and only practice that the major first aid guidelines agree on is tested. Clients, families and staff have names from many backgrounds, ages and genders, and cultural or religious preferences appear as choices to respect, never as stereotypes.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
