Multiple choice

15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.

Roles this test fits

Guest-facing hotel and restaurant roles from first jobs to early supervision: front desk and reception agents, guest relations staff, servers, hosts, bar and restaurant floor staff, shift leaders and hospitality trainees.

What this test can show

  1. Choices in guest situations

Scenarios show how candidates approach guest problems at a front desk or on a restaurant floor.

  2. Service that includes communication

Candidates choose how to word what they say to guests, not just what to do.

  3. Read details before responding

Some questions include a small booking list, room list or floor plan to read before answering.

  4. No specialist wine or cuisine knowledge

Restaurant questions avoid specialist wine or cuisine knowledge, named booking systems and tipping customs, so floor staff are judged on service practice rather than menu trivia.

Test integrity signals

Candidates cannot go back to an earlier question. Each attempt draws a different set of questions from large pools, with question order and answer options shuffled. The browser receives one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server, so reloading brings back the same question with only the time left. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab and pastes into answers in an Integrity Score with an evidence timeline for the employer to review; it does not decide on its own.

Use the score as evidence

Review the score alongside a guest-service work sample and a structured interview that asks each candidate the same job-related questions. Treat the score as one input for a person to review, not as a hiring decision by itself. It can support hiring for a Receptionist or other guest-facing roles. Yapılandırılmış mülakat soruları

  1. A guest with a booking arrives and the floor plan shows no free table for their party yet. What would you say, and what would you check?

Listen for a considerate welcome, a practical check of the booking and the floor, and clear wording to the guest.

  2. A guest raises a problem on the restaurant floor. How would you handle it and keep them informed?

Listen for guest focus, a practical response and how they keep the guest informed.

  3. A hotel guest asks to change their stay at the front desk. How would you use the booking list or room list to help them?

Listen for what they would confirm with the guest and how they explain the outcome.

Fairness and accommodations

Scenarios use situations common to hotels and restaurants in many countries, with no money symbols, tipping customs, local laws, holidays, sports or idioms. Guests and colleagues have names from many backgrounds, ages and genders, and no scenario links a guest's behavior to who they are. Questions avoid named booking systems, brands and specialist wine or cuisine knowledge, and the reading level is kept plain so the test measures service judgment rather than reading speed.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
