15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Entry and mid-level guest-facing hotel roles: front desk and reception agents, guest relations staff, concierges, night auditors, reservations agents, shift leads and junior duty managers.
What the test can show
Judgment in guest situations
Room-readiness and checkout scenarios show how candidates would respond to guests, beyond what a resume can describe.
Decisions under pressure
Candidates consider hotel situations under time pressure, giving you evidence of how they prioritize and solve a guest-service problem.
A fairer basis for comparison
The questions state any hotel rule an answer depends on. Candidates do not need knowledge of a particular chain or country.
Shift handovers and teamwork
Handover scenarios show how a candidate passes an unresolved guest issue to colleagues, the team communication and leadership expected of shift leads and junior duty managers.

Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
Test security and integrity signals
Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large pools, with question order and answer options shuffled. The browser presents one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. The 10-minute timer runs on the server; reloading restores the same question with only the time remaining. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded. HireValid summarizes signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read in an Integrity Score with an evidence timeline. The employer reviews that evidence; it does not decide on its own.

Use the score as evidence
Review the score as one signal about judgment, not as a decision on its own. Pair it with a work sample, such as asking the candidate to explain their response to a room-readiness scenario, and a structured interview with the same questions for each candidate. For adjacent hiring needs, see Customer Service Skills or the Receptionist role.

Listen for clear communication of the issue and a plan to help the next shift understand what needs attention.

Fairness and accommodations
Scenarios use situations common to hotels of any size and country, and any hotel rule an answer depends on is stated in the question, so no knowledge of a particular hotel chain or country is needed. Guests and colleagues have names from many backgrounds, ages and abilities, without stereotypes, and no question involves money amounts, idioms, holidays or sports. Questions are written in plain English at an everyday reading level so the test measures service judgment rather than reading speed.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
