Kısa yanıt
The Computer System Architecture test is an intermediate, 10-minute check of hardware-level understanding. Its 15 multiple-choice questions cover logic circuits, data representation, CPU instruction execution, memory, I/O and multiprocessors. It is designed for hardware testers, system architects, systems engineers, and embedded or firmware engineers whose roles need a working grasp of computer hardware.
Ölçtüğü şey
Understanding of digital logic, data representation, CPU organization, memory, I/O and multiprocessor hardware.
Digital logic and components
Questions cover logic circuits and components, including problems that use a truth table.
Data representation and arithmetic
Candidates reason about how data is represented and processed.
Instructions and CPU organization
Questions examine how a processor fetches and executes instructions, sometimes using register contents.
Memory, I/O and multiprocessors
Candidates consider how memory, input and output, and multiple processors work together.
Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Hardware testers and troubleshooters, computer and system architects, systems engineers, embedded and firmware engineers, and other roles that need a working grasp of computer hardware.
Evidence beyond a resume
See reasoning from hardware details
Truth tables, register contents and memory maps give candidates specific information to work from, rather than asking for a definition alone.
Keep product familiarity out of the questions
Questions use standard, vendor-neutral textbook concepts and name no commercial processors or products.
Make the working conditions clear
Each question states needed conventions, such as word width or byte addressing. Small numbers support scratch-paper work, and no calculator is needed.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
How the test handles outside assistance
Each candidate receives a different set of questions from large pools. Question order and answer options are shuffled, and the browser shows one question at a time; answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. The 10-minute timer runs on the server. Reloading returns the same question with only the time left, and candidates cannot go back to earlier questions. Question text cannot be copied or selected. HireValid records signals such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read. An Integrity Score and evidence timeline summarize signals for employer review; neither decides on its own. With candidate consent, an employer can add webcam photos at random moments.

Review the score with other evidence
Use the score as evidence for a person to review, not as a hiring decision on its own. Compare it with a work sample and a structured interview about hardware reasoning. You can pair it with the Software Engineer test or Software Architect test when those assessments fit the role.
Yapılandırılmış mülakat soruları
Given a truth table and a desired output, how would you find the input combinations that produce it?
Listen for a step-by-step check of input combinations and outputs, with reasoning tied to the table.
How would you represent a value using a stated word width and number base, and what would you check?
Listen for attention to the given conventions and a clear account of the representation or arithmetic.
How would you trace an instruction from fetch through execution using register contents?
Listen for an ordered explanation of how the supplied register information relates to instruction execution.
Given a memory map, how would you reason about an I/O read or write, or about two processors working together?
Listen for reasoning based on the provided map and a clear account of the interaction being considered.

Fairness and accommodations
Questions use standard, vendor-neutral textbook concepts and name no commercial processors or products. Every convention a question depends on, such as word width, number base or byte addressing, is stated in the question. Numbers are kept small enough to work on scratch paper, which every candidate may use, so no calculator is needed. The wording is plain US English, kept simple so non-native readers are tested on hardware knowledge rather than reading speed.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
Test details
A short, timed check of how well a candidate understands what happens inside a computer at the hardware level. Questions cover logic circuits, how data is represented and processed, how a processor fetches and executes instructions, and how memory, input and output, and multiple processors work together. Many questions show a truth table, register contents or a memory map to work from rather than asking for a definition alone.
- Questions are in English.
- Aids allowed: Scratch paper.
- Each question is answered once, in order, with no going back.
- 4 practice questions, 4 minutes, before the timed test.
Sık sorulan sorular
Which roles fit the Computer System Architecture test?+
It is intended for intermediate hiring where a role needs a working grasp of hardware. Relevant roles include hardware testers and troubleshooters, computer and system architects, systems engineers, and embedded or firmware engineers. It can support, rather than replace, your review of role-specific work.
How does the Computer System Architecture test keep questions fair?+
Questions use vendor-neutral textbook concepts and name no commercial processors or products. They state conventions such as word width, number base or byte addressing. Plain US English keeps the focus on hardware knowledge rather than reading speed.
Can candidates use scratch paper on the Computer System Architecture test?+
Yes. Every candidate may use scratch paper. The numbers are kept small enough to work through on paper, and no calculator is needed. This supports questions involving data representation and arithmetic without requiring a separate tool.
What practice set comes with the Computer System Architecture test?+
The practice set has 4 questions and takes 4 minutes. The hiring test itself has 15 multiple-choice questions and covers areas such as processor instruction execution and memory maps.
