The Video Content Creator test is an intermediate hiring test for video content creators, video marketers, and content marketers who produce video. Candidates answer multiple-choice questions about briefs, shot lists, timelines, and export settings. Question formats
Multiple choice
The candidate: Reads a short situation, table or statement and picks the right answer, or every right answer.
You see: Whether the candidate knows the material well enough to apply it, not just recognize it.
15 questions in 10 minutes, served one at a time.
Roles this test fits
Video content creators, video marketers, content marketers who produce video, motion and video production artists, and video editors who work from brief to delivered file.
What this test can show
Judgment from brief to screen
Brief and shot-list scenarios show how candidates translate a campaign idea into a video approach, beyond what a resume can describe.
Delivery choices for channels
Timeline and export-setting questions show how candidates handle editing, formats, and file delivery for different channels.
Craft knowledge, not platform recall
Generic tools and channels keep questions centered on settled video craft. No particular editing program, camera brand, or social platform is needed.
What you get for each candidate
- Stayed on the test tab throughout
- No pasted answers
- Answered at a steady pace
Scores, profiles and integrity signals are evidence for you to review alongside an interview, never an automatic decision.
How the test handles AI and answer sharing
Each attempt draws a different set of questions from large pools, with questions and answer options in a different order. Candidates see one question at a time, and answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. The test takes 10 minutes, and candidates cannot go back to an earlier question. Reloading brings back the same question with only the time left. Question text cannot be copied or selected; blocked copy attempts are recorded in the timeline. Signals such as time away from the test tab and answers faster than a question can be read appear in an Integrity Score and evidence timeline for you to review. The score does not decide on its own. See how we build our tests.

Use the score as evidence
Review the score alongside a work sample and a structured interview. A work sample can let you see how a candidate handles a video brief and delivery choices in your context. In the interview, ask every candidate the same job-related questions and compare their reasoning with the work. The score is one signal for your review, not a hiring decision. For more context, see our pre-employment testing guide and candidate-friendly hiring guide.

Listen for attention to the requested formats and export settings, and a reasoned approach to the delivery.
Understand scoring and benchmarks
Fairness and accommodations
Questions are written around generic tools and channels, so no particular editing program, camera brand or social platform is needed, and they test settled craft knowledge rather than rules that change with a platform's updates. Products, brands and audiences in the scenarios are invented and everyday, with no idioms, holidays, sports or money amounts, and the people named come from many backgrounds. No question depends on telling colors apart, and the reading is kept short and plain so the test measures video skill rather than reading speed.
You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.
Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.

Sık sorulan sorular
Can candidates with color vision differences take the Video Content Creator test?+
Yes. No question depends on telling colors apart. Scenarios work from briefs, shot lists, timelines and export settings set out in short, plain text, so color perception plays no part in the score.
Who is the Video Content Creator test designed for?+
It is an intermediate test for video content creators, video marketers, content marketers who produce video, motion and video production artists, and video editors who work from brief to delivered file. It is intended to support hiring for those roles, not serve as a general design test.
Can candidates use scratch paper on the Video Content Creator test?+
Yes. Scratch paper is allowed. The test works on a phone or a computer, but candidates cannot return to an earlier question. A separate practice set has 4 questions and takes 4 minutes.
How does the Video Content Creator test avoid relying on a specific platform?+
Its questions use generic tools and channels, so candidates do not need a particular editing program, camera brand, or social platform. Scenarios use invented products, brands, and audiences, and the short, plain reading is designed to keep the focus on video skill rather than reading speed.
Can the Video Content Creator test replace a video work sample?+
No. Use its score as one piece of evidence alongside a work sample and structured interview. The test asks candidates to reason about campaign briefs, camera and motion choices, and export settings; a work sample lets you review their work in the context of the role.
