What the Google Docs test can show

  1. Practical document knowledge

A resume may list Google Docs, but this test asks candidates to reason through everyday tasks involving pages, styles and layout.

  2. Review and output judgment

See how candidates approach suggestions, comments, versions and preparing a file to print, download or publish.

  3. Sharing choices

Check their understanding of view, comment and edit access, so you have a focused topic for follow-up.

  4. A clearer interview focus

Use results to plan a relevant work sample and structured interview instead of relying on a general claim of software experience.

Test setup and integrity signals

Each attempt draws a different set of questions from large pools. Questions appear in a different order, with shuffled answer options, and the browser shows one question at a time. Answer keys stay on HireValid’s servers. Timing runs on the server, so reloading returns the same question with only the time left. Question text cannot be copied or selected, and a blocked copy attempt is recorded in the timeline. HireValid can summarize signals, such as time away from the test tab, pastes into answers and answers faster than a question can be read, in an Integrity Score with an evidence timeline. An employer reviews these signals; they do not decide on their own. With candidate consent, random webcam photos can be added.

Use the score as one piece of evidence

Review the score alongside a short work sample and a structured interview. For example, ask a candidate to format a short document with clear page layout, inserted content and suitable access settings. Use the result to choose follow-up topics, not as a verdict on its own. If the role also uses other document or spreadsheet tools, consider the separate Microsoft Word, Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel Intermediate tests.

Pertanyaan wawancara terstruktur

  1. Walk me through how you would prepare a shared report for printing and for online use.

Listen for a clear approach to page setup and choosing an output, such as printing, downloading or publishing.

  2. Tell me about a document where you needed to review edits from other people. How did you handle it?

Listen for relevant use of suggestions, comments and versions, and a considered approach to reviewing changes.

  3. How would you set access for coworkers who need different levels of involvement in a document?

Listen for a distinction between view, comment and edit access.

  4. Describe how you would make a team document easier to use with a table, image or link.

Listen for a practical choice of inserted content that fits the document task.

Fairness and accommodations

Questions describe menus, settings and documents in words, so nothing depends on remembering a particular screen or keyboard shortcut. They are based on stable features of Google Docs in a web browser. Scenarios use neutral workplace documents with names from many backgrounds, and they contain no money symbols, idioms or local knowledge. The reading level is kept plain, and each question allows enough time to read it once with care.

You can give any candidate extra time as an accommodation. Results are evidence for a person to review, never an automatic decision.

Provisional: reliability is reported once 200 candidates have completed it.
